Toussaint ranks high on list of top-grossing black-owned companies
(June 2007) Solid business relationships have spelled success for Toussaint Capital Partners, according to Black Enterprise’s June 2007 cover story, in which it ranked Toussaint eighth on its BE Investment List with $17.6 billion in total managed issues. Titled “Newest CEOs to join the BE 100s each answered the call to entrepreneurship,” the magazine outlined the firm’s climb to success, crediting the partners’ melding of talents and entrepreneurial experience as well as their past association with clients. “Each partner brought with them quality relationships, such as MetLife, Western Asset Management and the city of New York,” the publication stated. It noted how their careful management of the fledgling partnership paved the way for success. “[T]hey began hammering out a business plan, which consisted of a thorough market analysis, how they planned to generate business, and a very conservative capitalization structure.” This beginning resulted in their high listing with BE 100s freshman class. In an announcement of the finalists, the magazine noted Toussaint and the other listed businesses “collectively responded to a more challenging and competitive business environment by aggressively working toward the expansion of revenue base and markets.” The issue was the magazine’s 35th annual BE 100s report which has ranked the nation’s top-grossing black-owned businesses since its inception in 1973.
